Oregon Ducks Fruit Cake, Perfect for a Football Party

College football season is here, and it's a great time to host a football party! I am a University of Oregon Ducks fan, so to celebrate, I made a cake entirely out of fruit that features Oregon's mascot (the Duck) and the school's colors (green and gold).

If you are an Oregon fan and want to make this fruit cake, here's how:

Supplies:
Knife
Spoon
Plate
Duck Cookie Cutter (You can find one at a cooking store or online)
Toothpicks

Ingredients:
Honeydew melon
Kiwi
Oranges
Grapes
Pineapple

Start by slicing off the top and bottom of the honeydew melon. Scoop out the seeds from the melon with a spoon and throw away.  Take a knife and carefully peel off the melon's outer layer of skin. Flip the melon over so that the hole you created to scoop out the seeds becomes the bottom of the cake. Set the melon on a serving plate.

Next, peel and cut the pineapple into circular slices.  Use the cookie cutter to turn the pineapple into ducks. Take toothpicks and secure the ducks around the edges and on the top of the honeydew melon cake.

Then, peel and cut the kiwi into triangles. Attach the kiwi with toothpicks to the top of the cake.

Pile grapes, sliced kiwi, and peeled oranges onto the serving plate to nicely surround the cake.

Print off the Oregon pennants below and tape them onto toothpicks for the decorative finish. I happened to have green and gold toothpicks. You can look for colored toothpicks at the grocery store.

Now, you have an Oregon cake! Go Ducks!
